• Overhead and underbody damage to the vehicle – except where Liability Reduction Option or the Maui Premium Package has been purchased. This does not cover Single vehicle rollover except where Additional Protection Cover has been purchased.
• Vehicle security deposit –
• If you do not take a Liability Reduction Option, the vehicle security deposit is NZ$7,500 payable by credit card. 2% credit card administration fee in addition to the vehicle security deposit amount when the credit card used is either a Visa or MasterCard and 4.6%, when the credit card used is an American Express.
• If Liability Reduction Option has been taken the vehicle security deposit is NZ$250.
• Maui reserves the right to retain a NZ$250 cleaning fee if the vehicle is not returned in a clean condition
• The toilet and wastewater tank must be emptied prior to the return of the vehicle, or an additional NZ$125 soiling fee will be retained.
• Late pick-up or early return of vehicle does not entitle the hirer to any refund of the unused portion of the rental
• Vehicle collections and returns in Queenstown/Christchurch will incur a NZ$210 location fee (same city collection and return, one fee applies). This is in addition to the one-way fee if applicable.
• Damage caused to the vehicle because total load (kg) has exceeded recommended load asstated in vehicle manual. Vehicles are not to be used for the purpose of transporting andhaulage of goods other than what might be reasonably expected of a leisure rental.
• Any water related damage which includes, but is not limited to:
• any vehicle submersion
• creek or river crossing
• driving through flooded areas
• beach driving
• Personal belongings. Maui recommends the customer does not leave valuables in the vehicle and that they take out travel insurance to cover for the loss/damage of personal belongings.
• Any damage caused by willful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle).
• Any damage to the vehicle or any third party’s vehicle or property where the customer is deemed by local authorities to have been careless, negligent or willful in failing to abide by the local road rules.
• A single vehicle roll over occurs except where Additional Protection Coverage has been purchased.
• Damage caused to the vehicle due to the use of by snow chains.
• Any damage caused while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or negligence.
• The Customer will be liable for any damage associated with the incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol) which includes Bio-Diesel which should not be used, or water or other contamination of fuel.
• The cost of retrieving or recovering a vehicle, which may include, but is not limited to a vehicle that has become bogged, submerged, caught, trapped, stuck or restricted in anyway and/or has been abandoned, in each case in circumstances within the control of the customer.
• The cost to replace keys, which have been lost or stolen, or retrieval keys, which have been locked in a vehicle.
• The vehicle rented may only be used to carry the maximum number of passengers as dictated by the vehicle type. If more passengers are carried than what is allowed Maui does not accept any liability.
• Drivers not identified on the rental agreement and/or drivers that has a license that has been cancelled or suspended and/or drivers who have a license that is classified as a learners or probationary license.

• Duration of Hire is calculated on a calendar day, eg collection Monday 4pm, return Sunday 10am constitutes a 7 day hire.
• Insurance Excess/Liability Reduction: Basic daily insurance is included in the daily rental rate. An excess is payable in the event of an accident or damage to the vehicle. This excess amount may be reduced by purchasing an optional Liability Reduction plan. A vehicle security deposit is required and collected by credit card on initiation of the hire and refunded at the termination of the hire provided the vehicle is returned in the same condition it left the depot.
• Diesel Tax Recovery Fee: A government imposed tax will be calculated on the return of your vehicle (based on the mileage traveled). This is payable directly to the motorhome company on return of the vehicle.
• Airport Arrivals/Departures: On arrival guests will be transferred from the airport to the depot to check in. On departure, the vehicle is returned to the depot and a transfer provided to the airport.
• Age Requirements: Drivers must be 21 years of age or older
• License: A current valid full driver’s license must be provided in English – if the driver’s license from the country of origin is not displayed in English then an official International

Driver’s License must be presented.

• Credit Card: A credit card must be provided by the main driver, issued in that driver’s name, on collection of the rental car. An imprint of the card will be taken, a hold placed on a certain amount (dvised by theMotorhome Operator at the time) as security and any charges owing at the end of the hire including extras purchased or unfilled fuel tanks will be charged to that credit card.
• Interisland Hires: Vehicles may be taken from the North Island to the South Island by ferry. As there is no depot location in Picton, all hires crossing from the North Island to the South Island by ferry must transfer the motorhome on the ferry.
• Additional Extras: The following extras may be booked or may apply – all extras are payable by the client directly to the rental car provider on collection of the vehicle but may be pre-booked to ensure the item isreserved:
• Remote Location Fee (for rentals collected or completed in Queenstown)
• One-way fee – for hires traveling between North and South Island (and vice versa) from October to March (peak season)
• Baby/Booster Seats – legally required for all children up to approx 7 yrs (depending on weight).
• GPS Units
• Additional equipment such as camping chairs and table (for outside seating)
• All reservations are subject to confirmation and the motorhome company reserves the right to substitute a similar motorhome if the one reserved is not available.
